An amendment to China's Cybersecurity Law was approved on Oct 28 at the conclusion of a five-day session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.

　　An article on the safe and sound development of AI was added to the revised law, which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2026.
