A Chinese-Egyptian joint archaeological team has unearthed two sacred-lake remains at the 3,000-year-old Montu Temple precinct in Luxor, Egypt. It marks the first-ever double sacred-lake layout found within one ancient Egyptian temple compound. Since 2018, the team has excavated about 2,300 square meters and identified a new southern sacred lake of over 50 square meters. The important find offers valuable clues for studying ancient temple rituals and reflects fruitful China-Egypt cultural exchanges.
