The China Coast Guard vessel Sandu on Thursday set sail from Sanya, south China's Hainan Province, for a port visit to Penang, Malaysia.

The visit aims to deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia's coast guard agencies, enhance coordination in maritime law enforcement, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.

During the visit, the two sides will hold high-level meetings and conduct exchanges on a range of practical maritime law enforcement topics.

It marks the second consecutive year that China and Malaysia have conducted official exchanges between their coast guard agencies. A vessel of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency visited Sanya in June 2025.
